Note:
This analysis aggregates reported data from individual state Department of Corrections (DOC) websites, the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) website, news reports, and individual inquiries. The data analyzed here excludes crimes committed by crossdressers and "trans"-identified offenders who may have been arrested but did not serve a prison sentence (which may be included on the prison data table). This data includes incarcerated individuals the Not Our Crimes project has found and verified from the public record, thus, these numbers are subject to change as further data is added. Numbers here are to be used as guidelines rather than absolute counts.
Data includes males who have since been released from prison. Info from males who have spent time in both the men's and women's estate will be included in the data designated for males in the women's estate for the purposes of this analysis.
Many individuals have committed multiple crimes with multiple victims. Thus, the sum of percents in charts relating to victim demographics and type of offense will not equal 100%. "Violent offenses" include rape, murder, assault, and robbery.
Data includes individuals in the United States only.
